By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria defender, Kenneth Omeruo has looked back to the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning feat as he plan to feature at another AFCON next year in Ivory Coast.

Omeruo was part of Stephen Keshi’s side that won the nation’s third African title at the FNB Stadium, South Africa.

Sunday Mba scored the winner as the West African side earned a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in the final match.

The Kasimpasa defender is anticipating another title winning feat next year in Cote d’ivoire.

“We were determined to carve our names in history.” Omeruo told www.ckdmedia.ng

“Our team had a mix of both seasoned players and rising talents like Gabriel Reuben, Ejike Uzoenyi, Sunday Mba, Azubuike Okechukwu, Obiora Nwankwo.

“We seized the opportunity to represent our nation, and the rest, as they say, became part of football history.”

Super Eagles edged Ivory Coast 2-1 in the quarter final o their way to winning the title in 2013.

The two West African sides will meet again in the group stage of AFCON 2023, this time in Abidjan.

“In that unforgettable game, partnering with Godfrey Obaobona in defense, we silenced the doubts and stopped one of the world’s most lethal strikers, Didier Drogba,” he concluded.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group A, and will trade tackles with Equatorial Guinea, hosts Ivory Coast, and Guinea Bissau.
