2023 AFCON: Peter Rufai calls for early Super Eagles preparation

Nigeria legend, Peter Rufai has called for early preparation for the national team ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) holding in Cote D’Ivoire in January 2024.

The West Africans are yearning for their fourth continental crown, exactly 10 years after they won the third in South Africa and the former Super Eagles goalie has tasked the technical crew to get into action and stage early plans.

The 1994 AFCON winner further hopes Nigeria have a successful tournament despite only having three months.

“As ar as preparation is concern, the technical department head is to get into action and plan their strategy of training and preparation,” Rufai told Complete Sports.

“The team still has three months to prepare and just like other teams that will be at the tournament. And I hope everything goes in favour of the team as plan before the tournament.

“I know with hardwork from the players Nigeria will do well at the 2023 AFCON.”

Nigeria are drawn in group A of the AFCON with host nation, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign at the AFCON against Equatorial Guinea on January 14 at the Stade Olympique Alassane Quattara, Abidjan.
