2023 African Games: Senegal announce 20 players to face Falconets

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Senegal women’s U-20 team has finalized its squad of 20 players who will compete in the women’s football event at the 2023 African Games.

As the tournament’s commencement draws near, teams have been revealing their rosters, and Senegal is no exception. The squad comprises a balanced mix of talent, with three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and four attackers chosen to represent the country.

Senegal’s journey in the tournament will kick off with a match against the Falconets on March 11, 2024, marking the beginning of their quest for glory.

Meanwhile, Nigeria was initially scheduled to face Morocco in the opening game on Friday, March 8, setting the stage for an exciting start to the competition.

With only the top two teams from the group stage advancing to the semi-finals, the stakes are high for each participating nation as they vie for a coveted spot in the medal zone.

Nigeria, the defending champions who clinched the gold medal in the previous edition held in Morocco, enters the tournament as the favorites to retain their title and secure another top medal finish. Their formidable reputation adds anticipation to the competition as they aim to uphold their dominance on the African football stage.
