The race for the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super Four intensifies with the third day of thrilling action during the first round in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

In the opening match, Kebbi BSC, Africa’s top-ranked team, showcased their resilience, reclaiming victory with a hard-fought 3-2 win against Anambra Warriors BSC.

Hassan Abdullahi’s remarkable hat-trick propelled Kebbi Fishers to their second win of the season, halting Anambra’s winning streak. Adding to the intrigue, former Kebbi player Emeka Ogbonna netted twice against his former squad, adding a layer of drama to the encounter.

Meanwhile, Nmanko Patigi, after enduring a string of defeats, finally tasted victory with a commanding 6-2 triumph over Kebbi United BSC.

Kunle Jamiu, Usman Yusuf, and captain Seun Ogunlana each contributed a brace, steering the Ilorin-based side to their inaugural win. Despite efforts from Uzairu Muhammed and Sadiq Umar, Kebbi United found themselves on the losing end once again.

In the evening fixtures, Kada BSC secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Anambra Warriors. Goals from Dozie Frank, Tanko Emmanuel, and Victor Tale sealed the win for the Kaduna-based outfit, while Chinweze Gabriel and Clement Ekujimi provided consolation strikes for the Nnewi-based team.

The final match of the day witnessed Kebbi BSC clinching their third win in four games with a commanding 3-1 triumph over debutants Jigawa Golden Stars BSC.

An own goal from Idowu Akintunde set the tone for Kebbi Fishers’ victory, with Usman Bello and Suleiman Abdullahi further extending their lead. Bagudu Hamza managed to pull one back for Jigawa, but it proved insufficient to salvage a result for the newcomers.

With the conclusion of the first round, anticipation mounts for the second round of the league, slated to take place in Nnewi, Anambra State, following the culmination of the final matches.
