2024 President Federation Cup: Osun Babes stun Confluence Queens as teams qualify for quarter-final

Osun Babes and Sunshine Queens are the remaining second-tier teams in the 2024 President Federation Cup after the conclusion of the Round of 16 games on Wednesday.

The Osogbo-based side played out a 1-1 draw with Confluence Queens as Rebecca Omodele’s opener was canceled by a late goal from Amarachi Onyekwe which took the game into penalties.

Osun Babes won the game of wills with a 4-3 victory on penalties to qualify for the quarter-final.

In another game involving two second-tier teams, Sunshine Queens defeated Honey Badgers 2-0 thanks to goals from Bolaji Olamide and Aluba Ogba.

Holders, Bayelsa Queens bowed out of the tournament after a 6-5 loss on penalties to Nasarawa Amazons.

Regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw with Mary Anjor opening the scoring for the Prosperity Girls.

Oluwaseyi Arubo scored the winner as Remo Stars Ladies edged Dannaz Ladies 1-0.

The 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership winner, Edo Queens will not have the opportunity of winning a double after a 4-1 loss to Rivers Angels.

A brace from Chiamaka Okwuchukwu and goals by Blessing Okpe and Olamide Adugbe ensured that Suliyat Abideen’s penalty was a mere consolation.

FC Robo Queens beat Heartland Queens 2-0 with goals by Adebayo Raheemot and the league’s top goal scorer, Folashade Ijamilusi.

Naija Ratels also secured a 4-0 victory over Naija Ratels while Delta Queens thrashed Kwara Ladies 7-0 as Chinwe Akabike and Temilope Owoeye scored two goals apiece.

Nwachukwu Chisom and Mega Cynthia completed the rout.
