The head coach of Benin Republic national team, Gernot Rohr is of the view that their clash with Nigeria will be a tough contest.
The Super Eagles and Cheetahs will square off in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.
Benin Republic defeated Super Eagles 2-1 in both sides last game earlier this year during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Rohr who was the former coach of the Super Eagles is looking forward to a tough game but said his team are ready for the challenge.
“Nigeria has more good players who are playing in a big league,” Rohr said.
“Benin on the other hand is a smaller country with 12 million inhabitants, so it’s not the same thing.
“We are ready for the match , we are aware that Nigeria has strengthen with some players who are not present in June.
“The match will be difficult but we are ready”, he said during a press conference.
Saturday’s cracker, which is a Matchday 1 encounter in the race for the 2025 AFCON finals, will kick off at 5pm.
