By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Castmog Ladies and Ahudiyannem Queens, have joined Sunshine Queens in securing promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after finishing top of their respective groups on Wednesday.

In Umuahia, Castmog Ladies confirmed their place in the top flight from Group A1 despite falling 1-0 to Gallant Queens. A goalkeeping blunder by Omotolani Oladunjoye, who scored an unfortunate own goal, proved the difference between the sides. However, Castmog still finished top of the group with six points from three matches. Earlier in the day, First Mahi Babes and Royal Queens settled for a goalless draw.

Meanwhile in Abiriba, Ahudiyannem Queens sealed promotion from Group B1 following a 1-1 draw with Wazbak International Queens. Kenechukwu Eze put the hosts ahead in the 38th minute, but Sofiat Hassan equalised to ensure the points were shared. In the group’s other game, Pelican Stars wrapped up their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Chosen Generation Angels courtesy of Glory Chukwu’s strike.

Over in Group B2, Osun Babes delivered the standout performance of the day with a commanding 4-1 victory over Ghetto Tigers. Zainab Salaudeen bagged a brace, while Adeola Omowodun and Victory Odanlumen also got on the scoresheet. Ebube Jude’s strike was only a consolation for Ghetto Tigers.

Elsewhere, Delta Babes ended their run of defeats by recording their first win of the playoffs — a 2-1 success against Moje Queens. Ijeoma Damian and Mary Chisom struck for Delta Babes, while Tawa Mustapha’s goal wasn’t enough to rescue Moje Queens.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Queens which already gained promotion with a match to spare recorded a perfect record after a 1-0 win against Kwara Ladies in Group A2.

Gallant Queens also edged Unification FC 1-0 in the second Group A2 encounter.

With Groups A1, A2, and B1 concluded, the focus now shifts to Group B2, where matches continue on Friday and Sunday to determine the final team that will join Castmog Ladies, Sunshine Queens, and Ahudiyannem Queens in next season’s NWFL Premiership.

Group B2 is set for a photo finish with Imo Striker at the summit with six points while Ghetto Tigers which has played three games have four points ahead of Osun Babes and Delta Babes with three points.

Moje Queens occupy the basement of the log with a point after two games.
