3SC ready for NPFL-Doxy Mmobuosi Super Cup test, says Gbenga Ogunbote
Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote believes the pre-season tournament will serve as a good test for his boys ahead of the  2022/23 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Shooting Stars will renew its arch-rivalry with Bendel Insurance in the opening game of the maiden NPFL/Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Preseason Tourney which kicks off on Tuesday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
While describing the inclusion of the Ibadan soccer lords among the traditional teams picked for the tourney as a big honour, the Oracle as fondly called, expressed happiness that his side will be involved in the event.
“It is indeed a good test for us as we continue our preparation for the season. We have been preparing all this while but I believe a tournament of this magnitude will further help in assessing how ready we are for the task ahead.”
The four teams selected by the organiser to participate in the pre-season tournament have received the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) each as mobilization fees, and the winner among the four teams will be One Hundred Million Naira (#100,000,000 million) richer.
“The money involved aside, I am most excited over the big challenge the tourney will offer because we will be competing against crack sides like Rangers International, Enyimba and Bendel Insurance,” he added.
He however noted the high expectations of the followers of the club ahead of the upcoming season and pledges not to disappoint on his return.
“I am quite aware of the expectations of the supporters and fans of the club and considering the belief that any team that Gbenga Ogunbote handles will always pick a continental ticket,” he continued.
“It will make us work harder to achieve a positive result,” concluded the ex Sharks of Port Harcourt gaffer.
