Getafe’s new Nigerian signee, Chrisantus Uche happy for new challenge

By Monsurah Olatunji
Spanish La Liga side Getafe CF has officially signed 21-year-old Super Eagles-eligible star Uche Chrisantus from second-division side, AD Ceuta.
Chris, who has been with AD Ceuta since moving from Nigeria two years ago, signed a four-year deal with the Getafe-based club, keeping him at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium until June 30, 2028.
The highly-rated midfielder was a standout performer for AD Ceuta FC last season, playing 34 games in the regular league and two more in the promotion playoffs.
He also represented Nigeria at the U23 level known as the Olympic Eagles, featuring in continental tournaments such as the U-23 Africa Cup.
“Hello guys, my name is Uche,” the Nigerian stated in a video posted by the LALIGA club on their social media pages.
“I’m looking forward to coming to Getafe to start work with my colleagues and to meet the great fans (of the club). See you soon. Vamos Getafe.”
His signing makes him the third Nigerian to join Getafe, following Peter Etebo’s move from Stoke City in 2020 and Ikechukwu Uche’s tenure from 2007 to 2009.
