Dele Alampasu returns from 10-month injury break

By Monsurah Olatunji

2013 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Gloves winner, Dele Alampasu has returned from injury after 10 months.

The 27-year-old has resumed training as he hopes to revive his football journey in the Championnat National 3, the fifth tier of French football, Jura Dolois.

He last played a game at Stade Léo Lagrange, Besançon, on August 26, 2023, where he conceded two goals in a defeat during Game Week 1 of National 3.

The Future Stars Academy product played a key role in Nigeria’s successful 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates, earning the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper as the Golden Eaglets secured their fourth title.

He was expected to hit it off at club level, which, surprisingly, has been topsy-turvy, existing on the fringes at Feirense, Cesarense, Ventspils, and Pitea Hotspurs.

He made his senior debut for Nigeria on June 1, 2017, as a 70th-minute substitution against Togo in a 3–0 victory, but that remains his only outing with the Super Eagles.

“We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated. It’s a pleasure to be back on what gives me happiness. God over everything,” he posted on his Instagram.
