Governor Fubara rewards Rivers Angels with N25m for President Federation Cup win

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has announced a reward of 25 million naira for Rivers Angels after their triumph in the 2024 President Federation Cup.

The Rivers Angels clinched the title by defeating Naija Ratels with a solitary goal from Blessing Okpe’s penalty in the final held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos in June.

The announcement was made during a grand reception held in Port Harcourt on Wednesday to celebrate Rivers State sportsmen and women who have brought glory to the state.

In addition to the team’s reward, three individual players received cash awards for their exceptional performances: Blessing Okpe, named Most Valuable Player, received 2.5 million naira; Agatha Thompson, awarded Best Goalkeeper, received 2.5 million naira; Morufa Ademola, recognized as the Best Goalkeeper in the Super Six, received 2.5 million naira.

Governor Fubara praised all the athletes for their achievements and for placing Rivers State on the global sports map. He promised continued support for the team to achieve further success and bring more glory to the state.

The reception also honored other sports teams and individuals who excelled in various competitions, underscoring Rivers State’s commitment to fostering sports excellence.
