Wafu-B Champions League: Sixtus Omokhagbor hints on Edo Queens preparation

By Saheed Afolabi
Sixtus Omokhagbor, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Sports to the Edo State governor, expressed optimism about Edo Queens’ performance at the Wafu B Champions League in Ivory Coast.
He revealed that the team has started preparations with a closed-door training camp to build synergy among the players.
Omokhagbor reported high morale in the camp, bolstered by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s challenge to the players to win in Abidjan.
The Benin Arsenals has been training in Iyamho, where they will stay until the end of the month. Since the turf in Iyamho is artificial and the turf in Ivory Coast is natural grass, the team will train for an additional week at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium before heading to Ivory Coast.
“We started our concentration camp in Iyamho, and they will be leaving Iyamho by the end of this month,” Omokhagbor told nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.
“The turf in Iyamho is artificial and the turf in Ivory Coast is natural grass, so they will train another week at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium before progressing to Cote d’Ivoire.”
He confirmed that the team has completed the NFF registration and has strengthened its squad. Daily training sessions continue with a focus on the team’s objectives, inspired by the governor’s commitment to reward success.
Omokhagbor praised the NFF and NWFL for facilitating a smooth registration process, emphasizing the team’s winning mentality as crucial for their success in Ivory Coast.
“We are aware that we are representing Nigeria, and that’s the essence of the competition. The NFF have been very helpful, and the NWFL have played a very vital role in ensuring that we have a hitch-free registration.
“The language the players understand now is the mentality of a winner and being able to play alongside other countries. We are very sure by the grace of God to come out victorious and progress to the next round.”
