Roosa Ariyo’s brace lifts KuPS into Suomen Cup semifinals

Nigeria international Roosa Ariyo scored two goals to help Finland women’s side, KuPS defeat Ilves 2-0 in the quarter final of the 2024 Suomen Cup on Sunday.

Ariyo opened the scoring for the host in the 12th minute at the Vare Areena, Kuopio.

12 minutes later, Ariyo sealed the win with her second goal of the match.

The win ensured that KuPS will face HJK in the semi final after the latter defeated HPS 3-1.

Ariyo has scored a goal in three league (Kansallien Liga) games for KuPS this season.

She is expected to play crucial role with her experience as the team prepare to face Honka in their next league game on August 11, 2024.

The 30-year-old made her senior debut for Nigeria on 10 June 2021 in a 0-1 friendly loss to Jamaica which was her solitary appearance for the Super Falcons.

She has played for Honka, Jitex, TiPS in Finland as well as UDG Tenerife and Real Betis in Spain.
