CAF CC: El Kanemi Warriors vs Dadje FC date shifted

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round game between the President Federation Cup champions, El Kanemi Warriors, and Dadje FC from Benin Republic has been shifted.

The game originally scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2024, will now take place a day after on Saturday, August 17.

The Nigerian side confirmed this on their social media page, stating that the kick-off is 4:00 pm at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.

The Borno state-based side will play the first leg encounter away from home in Ikenne after their home ground could not meet the specified conditions by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

El Kanemi Warriors qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after emerging as winners of the 2024 President Federation Cup.

The President Federation Cup, which is Nigeria’s FA Cup, was renamed ahead of the 2024 edition, with the newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side seeing off Abia Warriors in the final.

Meanwhile, El Kanemi Warriors arrived at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, this week ahead of the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Dadje FC this week.

The players and officials were fully motivated by cash rewards from the state government before their trip to Ogun State where they will battle the Benin Republic team.
