Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni has attributed his team’s disappointing 3-1 loss to Bendel Insurance on Saturday to a brief lapse in concentration.
The Harmony Boys entered the Matchday 13 fixture in Benin with hopes of building on their recent strong performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
After a balanced first half, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Kwara United faltered in the second half, allowing Insurance FC to seize control and secure the victory.
In his post-match comments, Coach Sanni described the loss as “a bitter pill to swallow” and reflected on the team’s performance, particularly in the final stages of the game.
“It was a bad day in the office,” Sanni admitted. “Despite our efforts and the fact that we played better in some phases, lapses in concentration cost us dearly. This team rarely concedes goals, let alone three. I can’t attribute it to fatigue, but the outcome is disappointing.”
Sanni emphasized the need for his side to learn from the mistakes made in the match, promising improvements ahead of their next fixture.
“We will work on the lapses noticed here and get better before our next game,” he said.
The Harmony Boys will aim to bounce back in their Matchday 14 clash against Heartland FC at the Kwara State Stadium in midweek, where they will look to regain their momentum and return to winning ways.
