Nigeria U-17 women’s national team goalkeeper, Christiana Uzoma has been voted the best goalkeeper at the end of the 2024 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Girls Cup.
She won the award despite Flamingo’s second-place finish at the maiden edition of the cadet tournament behind host Ghana.
The Black Maidens edged Nigeria 5-4 on penalties after regulation time ended 2-2.
The host surrendered a two-goal lead, taking the grande finale into penalties.
Uzoma, who was unable to save any of the spot kicks in the final, kept two clean sheets in Nigeria’s four games against Niger Republic and Benin Republic.
Ghana won the other awards as Christiana Ashiaku, who scored six goals, emerged as the top goal scorer.
Her teammate, Latifa Musa was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Ghana successfully reigned supreme in WAFU-B Women’s age grade with the U-17 and U-20 titles in their kitty.
