AFCON 2025: Tunisia appoints Sami Trabelsi as new head coach ahead of Super Eagles clash

By Wale Mustapha

The Tunisia Football Federation (TFF) has officially announced the appointment of Sami Trabelsi as the new head coach of the Carthage Eagles.

This marks Trabelsi’s second stint in charge of the national team, having previously managed the former African champions from 2011 to 2013.

The former defender replaces Faouzi Benzarti, dismissed in October after a brief tenure of less than five months.

Following Benzarti’s departure, Kais Yaakoubi served as the interim head coach.

In addition to Trabelsi’s appointment, the federation revealed that Hamadi Daou will join the coaching staff as an assistant, while Mohammed Sahli is also expected to be drafted into the team.

Tunisia, placed in Group C of the AFCON 2025 finals, will face Nigeria, Uganda, and Tanzania in the group stages.
