NPFL: Imama Amakapabo sets sights on top three finish for Abia Warriors

By Wale Mustapha

Abia Warriors head coach, Imama Amakapabo, is optimistic about his team’s chances of securing a top-three finish in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Amakapabo’s confidence comes after his side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Insurance FC in their Matchday 29 encounter in Umuahia on Sunday.

A solitary goal from Sunday Megwo earned the ‘Umu Chineke’ side all three points.

The win saw Abia Warriors climb to fifth place on the table, but Amakapabo is aiming even higher.

“At this point, we still have nine games to go, which is 27 points to play for,” he said.

“We’re fifth now on the table. We just need to ensure that we get some good results on the road and also continue winning our home games. I think everything is possible. Yeah, it’s possible.”

With the season still in its latter stages, Abia Warriors remain in the hunt for a continental spot, and Amakapabo’s belief in his squad’s ability to push for the top positions continues to fuel their ambitions.
