Europa League: Barry Ferguson confirms Balogun fit for Rangers’ clash with Bilbao
By Wale Mustapha
Head Coach of Glasgow Rangers, Barry Ferguson has declared that Nigerian defender, Leon Balogun will be ready for their Europa League, quarterfinal second-leg clash against Athletico Bilbao.
Balogun featured for the entire duration in the first leg that ended in a goaless draw at the Ibrox Stadium.
The veteran Super Eagles’ center back however sat out of the Gers’ 2-2 Scottish Premier Football, SPL clash against Aberdeen last weekend.
Speaking ahead of the Thursday encounter that will take place at San Mames, Ferguson said the 36-year-old Nigeria international trained with the rest of the squad on Wednesday without any worries.
“It’s good news, Leon Balogun trained. Ridvan, Cerny, trained, and Rice all trained,” Ferguson told the media
“So hopefully, when they wake up tomorrow, there’s been no issues and as I said, hopefully we’re going to be strong. Also, we’ve got John Souttar and Diomande back.
“Things are looking pretty healthy, but as I said, I just need to wait until tomorrow morning, I speak to the medical staff and hopefully I get the thumbs on.”
