Usman Ajibona strike seals FC Van win over Pyunik in Armenian Premier League

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nigerian forward Usman Ajibona continued his fine form in front of goal, netting his second of the season to help FC Van edge past defending champions Pyunik Yerevan in a thrilling 3-2 encounter on Matchday 32 of the Armenian Premier League.

Ajibona, who previously scored against FC Gandzasar, justified his place in the starting lineup with a composed finish in the 35th minute, doubling FC Van’s lead after the hosts had taken an early advantage.

Pyunik responded with a goal before halftime to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

The second half saw both sides battle intensely, with Pyunik managing to level the score before FC Van sealed the win with a decisive third goal.

Ajibona’s clinical performance played a crucial role in securing the hard-fought victory, which keeps FC Van in the race for the top positions in the league standings.

Pyunik, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back quickly as the season nears its conclusion.
