Ex-Nigeria U17 goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor Joins Portsmouth on permanent deal

By Dayo Awoniyi

Former Nigeria U17 invitee Comfort Erhabor has completed a permanent move to Portsmouth Women following a successful loan spell from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper made a strong impression during the 2024/25 season in the FA Women’s National League, helping Portsmouth secure promotion to the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Her performances have now earned her a full-time contract as the South Coast club gears up for life in the second tier of English women’s football.

Erhabor, noted for her sharp reflexes, calm presence under pressure, and vocal leadership in the box, developed through Brighton’s youth system and previously featured in England’s youth training setups.

She was later invited to Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, gaining international recognition, though she did not feature at the U17 Women’s World Cup.

Her permanent transfer marks a significant step in her career, with Portsmouth eyeing consolidation and growth in the Championship.

Erhabor is widely expected to compete for the club’s starting goalkeeper position heading into the new season.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Pompey permanently,” Erhabor said.

“Last season was special, and I’m excited to help the team push even further.”

With her development on a steady rise, Erhabor will be aiming to cement her place in Portsmouth’s starting XI—and potentially attract the attention of Super Falcons selectors as she continues her progression toward elite-level football.
