Bayelsa Queens edge USFA to reach WAFU B Women’s Champions League Final

Nigeria champions, Bayelsa Queens booked their place in the West Africa Zone B (WAFU B) Women’s Champions League final after coming from behind to secure a 2-1 win over USFA of Burkina Faso.
The Burkinabè side made a dream start when Comfort Yeboah struck in the 2nd minute.
However, the Nigerian champions responded quickly as Emem Essien levelled the score in the 15th minute.
The decisive moment came in the 62nd minute, when Seimeyeha Akekoromowei fired home to complete the comeback and seal victory for Bayelsa Queens.
The result means Bayelsa Queens will contest the final of the regional tournament, as they continue their push for continental glory.
They will face host, Asec Mimosa in the final for the chance of qualifying for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Yenegoa based side continued Nigeria’s rich history at WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers becoming the fifth straight team from he country to reach the final since inceptions in 2021.
They also became the first Nigerian side to make it to the final twice after winning the title in 2022.
Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, and Edo Queens also got to the final in 2021, 2023, and 2024 respectively.
A win for Bayelsa Queens in the final will make them the first side to win WAFU-B Women’s Champions League title twice.
Hasaacas Ladies, Bayelsa Queens, Ampem Darkoa, and Edo Queens were past champions.
