CAF CC: Man-of-the-match performance excites Rivers United left-back Ebere Duru

River United on Wednesday exploded in the CAF Confederation Cup Playoff and Super Eagles and Rivers United left-back, Ebube Duru says he is so excited after his man-of-the-match performance.

Duru got an assist and scored two goals as Rivers United ran riot, beating Libyan side, Al Nasr of Libya 5-0 in the Playoffs’ first leg in Port Harcourt.

“I am very happy with the result given what happened in our last game. We knew that the whole country is mad at us. As a result of that, we had to redeem our image,” the former Lobi Stars FC player said on Brila FM this week.

“We came all out for this game and thank God we got a good result. I got two goals and an assist. It’s a good feeling for me and my team. For the return leg in Libya, we are going to give them a run for their money and qualify for the group stage.”

A goal each from Enyinnaya Kazie, Paul Acquah, Malachi Ohawume, and Ebube Duru brace lifted Rivers United to a comfortable 5-0 win against Al Nasr at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The win was Rivers United’s third on the continent after beating Watanga of Liberia and Wydad Casablanca both at home in the CAF Champions League.

Rivers United inflicted Al Nasr with its first defeat of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup after the Libya side earned a win and a draw over AS Kigali in the previous round.

The return leg will take place at the Martyrs of February Stadium, Benghazi, Libya.
