“All hope is not lost for us” – Rivers Angels’ Okon upbeat about NWFL Super 6 ticket

By Monsurah Olatunji
Head Coach of Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon says there is no cause for alarm as the race for a Super-6 slot is still much alive, despite the goalless draw against Delta Queens in Port Harcourt.
Former champions were held to a goalless draw at home by Delta in their last time out at the University of Port-Harcourt Sports Complex and the under-fire gaffer is confident their can improve their own fortune this term.
“[Wednesday] ‘s result is as though we have lost because we are not supposed to be dropping points at home,” Okon told media.
“We should rather pick all points and go away to pick draws or wins. The result is very bad. After the first fifteen minutes, we lost concentration, the visitors took over the game. My players weren’t fighting and also played to the gallery.
“All hope is not lost for us, Super 6 is still certain and we’ll fortify the team for the second round. This is football, our chances are still good going forward,” he concluded.
The draw keeps the Jewel of Rivers on third position on the Group A log with eight points – five behind leaders Delta Queens and will seek to end their first round on a high on a trip to Warri against Royal Queens on January 18, 2023.
