Chinwendu Ihezuo: Nigeria striker enjoys winning debut for Monterrey in Mexico

Nigeria forward Chinwendu Ihezuo celebrated a winning debut with her Mexican Liga MX side, Monterrey earned a 1-0 win over Queretaro at the Cancha El Barrial, Santiago on Tuesday.
Ihezuo recently joined Monterrey from the Chinese side, Guangdong Meizhou Hakka and Jazmin Enrigue’s 58th-minute own settled the contest as Monterrey won its first five games of the season.
After a goalless first half, the host broke the deadlock 13 into the second half thanks to Enrigue but could have doubled its lead in the 76th minute but Dania Perez missed from the penalty spot.
Ihezuo made her debut appearance for Monterrey as she replaced Lizette Rodriguez in the 46th minute.
In 2022, the 25-year-old scored six goals in the Chinese Women’s top-flight league as her former team finished in the seventh position. Her compatriot, Desire Oparanozie won the Chinese league title with Wuhan Giangda.
Ihezuo played for Delta Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership before securing her first professional move to Kazakhstan side, BIIK Kazygurt and went on to join Henan Jianye before later teaming up with Guangdong Meizhou Hakka.
