Brendan Rodgers extols Kelechi Iheanacho’s attributes despite Southampton loss

Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has lauded the performances of Kelechi Iheanacho despite his team’s 1-0 loss to relegation threatened Southampton in the English Premier League encounter.

A Carlos Alcaraz strike in the 35th minute condemned the Foxes 15th loss of the season at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

Despite Iheanacho firing blank against the Saints, the Super Eagles forward has notched in two goals and three assists in five appearances for the Foxes and Rodgers feels Iheanacho always remain the threat to their opponents.

“He’s been brilliant for us of late. He’s been the one who looks like the threat. He kept fighting and kept working,” the former Liverpool star told Leicester Mercury.

“He had two really good headers but couldn’t make the finish. The opportunity on the edge of the box, we’ve seen him score those recently, where he guides it into the corner. At least he was there to miss it.”

The Foxes aren’t in their best form this season as a total of 15 losses and seven wins leaves them in 15th position on the Premier League table and three points above the relegation zone.

Leicester City will trade tackles with mid table side, Chelsea in their next league outing on the 11th of March 2023 at the King Power stadium.
