Victor Boniface: Nigerian striker scores as Royal Union share spoils with Genk

In form Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface was on score sheet on Sunday as he helped his Belgian side, Royal Union Saint Gilloise secured a valuable point in their 1-1 draw against Genk.
The encounter played at the Cegeka Arena In Genk was the Matchday Four in the Jupiler League Promotion playoffs as Saint Gilloise holding up to the second Champions League slot after the draw.
It was Genk that broke the deadlock inside opening 13 minutes when American defender, Mark McKenzie headed from a Mike Tresor’s free kick.
Boniface who has being in top form for the Royale club scored the equalizer with six minutes before half time as he stabbed home a well measured pass from Sino Adingra.
It was the 22 year old striker’s ninth league goal of the season with seven assists in 35 games for Saint Gilloise.
The game became an end to end affairs in the second as both sides went flt each other’s jugular but couldn’t find the missing link to bury the chances.
Genk threw in the Nigerian duo of Colin Sor and Toluwalase Arokodare into the frays with to push more for the winning goal but the visitors held on to went away with the point.
Royal Union are now second on the group with the same points (45) as Royale Antwerp while Genk are third on the table with 42 points, nine ahead of fourth placed Club Brugge.
Boniface had joined Saint Gilloise last summer from Norwegian side, Bodo/Glint and has now contributed 17 goals in all competitions with 10 assists.
