Asisat Oshoala gets Ballon D’or Socrates award nomination

Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala has gained another global recognition after another nomination.
The Barcelona striker who was the first Nigerian and African player to be nominated for the Ballon D’or has also been nominated for the Socrates award by Ballon D’or award organizers via her football academy.
The award which is for peace and sport nominated Asisat Oshoala, thanks to the Asisat Oshoala Academy which offers its beneficiaries to high quality training as well as education on life skills.
The academy’s will is to empower young women through both sports and education, and to turn the beneficiaries into role models for the community and ambassadors for the values and skills they learnt.
Apart from Oshoala’s feat on the field of play, she is a role model for young girls aspiring to play the game of football in Africa.
She is the only Nigerian and African player to have won the UEFA Women’s Champions League twice and a record winner of the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.
The former FC Robo Queens won the top goal scorer award in the Spanish women’s top flight league at the end of the 2021/2022 season.
