CAF CC: Bendel Insurance edge ASO Chlef in Preliminary Round First leg

Nigeria representative at the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup, Bendel Insurance secured a slim 1-0 over ASO Chlef of Algeria in the first leg of the Peliminary Round on Saturday.
Imade Osarenkhoe’s first half goal ended the tie at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.
It took some time before the Benin Arsenals settled into the encounter and broke the deadlock just before the half time break.
Imade was at the end of a free kick to score the solitary goal of the clash, throwing the home fans into wide jubilation.
The second period didn’t produce any goa, despite both sides creating goal scoring chances.
Saturday’s clash was the first continental match for Insurance in decades after their qualification via the Federation Cup (FA Cup).
The team will now shift focus on the away clash with the slim win.
Monday Odigie’s side will travel to Algeria for the return leg at the Stade Mabrouki Salem in Algiers on August 26.
