Former Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche, has extended a message of solidarity to the people of Mexico in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake that struck on Tuesday night, claiming numerous lives. Reports indicate that over 200 individuals lost their lives, many of whom were trapped beneath collapsed structures, following a 7.1-magnitude earthquake that shook Mexico City, the country’s capital.
This catastrophic event unfolded just over one week after a magnitude-8.1 earthquake struck off the southern coast of Mexico, specifically in the state of Oaxaca, resulting in the loss of at least 90 lives. In response to the crisis, Uche, who previously played for Mexican club Tigres UANL during the 2015/2016 season, conveyed his heartfelt support to the nation during these trying times.
“Much strength to all my brothers of Mexico. I am with you,” wrote Ike Uche, currently plying his trade for Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the Spanish second division, on his Twitter platform on Wednesday.
Uche’s empathetic gesture reflects the global community’s collective concern for the well-being and recovery of the affected individuals and communities in Mexico. The earthquake serves as a stark reminder of the need for unity and support during such challenging moments, transcending borders and boundaries in the face of natural disasters.
