Shehu Abdullahi’s Debut Ends in Defeat as Bursaspor Falls to Alanyaspor; Agu and Troost-Ekong in Action

Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi made his debut appearance for Bursaspor in a challenging 3-1 away defeat to Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. Abdullahi, who recently joined Bursaspor from Cypriot first division club Anorthosis in the January transfer window, faced a formidable Alanyaspor side alongside his Super Eagles teammates Mikel Agu and William Troost-Ekong.
Bursaspor initially took the lead in the 29th minute through Bogdan Stancu’s effort, setting a positive tone for the away team. However, Alanyaspor swiftly responded, leveling the score at 1-1 with Efecan Karaca finding the back of the net. The momentum continued for Alanyaspor, securing a 2-1 lead with Junior Fernandes’ goal in the 59th minute. Emre Akbaba sealed the victory for Alanyaspor with a goal in the 62nd minute.
The consecutive league defeats, including a 3-0 home loss to league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir the previous Sunday, have placed Bursaspor in a challenging position. The team currently occupies the ninth spot in the league table with 25 points.
Despite the setback in Abdullahi’s debut, the Super Eagles defender, along with Agu and Troost-Ekong, remains pivotal to Bursaspor’s aspirations in the Turkish Super Lig. The trio will aim to regroup and contribute to the team’s resurgence in the coming fixtures.
