Ahmed Musa: A Homecoming to CSKA Driven by Winning Ambitions

Nigeria’s talented winger, Ahmed Musa, has revealed that the relentless pursuit of top honors by CSKA Moscow played a pivotal role in his decision to return to the club. Completing a loan move back to CSKA until the conclusion of the 2017/18 season, Musa expressed his eagerness to contribute to a club where he truly feels at home.

After facing challenges securing regular playing time at Leicester City, where he embarked on a significant transfer last season, Musa decided to make a return to CSKA Moscow. His time at Leicester City saw limited Premier League appearances, with no showings in the league and only one appearance in the Carabao Cup.

In justifying his return to CSKA, where he enjoyed a successful spell from 2012 to 2016, Musa emphasized the familial atmosphere at the club. “I am very happy and proud to be back. This is truly my home, a champion team that fights for the top awards and occupies the highest places. I am back to the red-blue family,” Musa declared, as quoted by CSKA on their verified Twitter handle.

During his initial stint with CSKA Moscow, Musa made a significant impact, featuring in 125 appearances and scoring 42 goals. His contributions were instrumental in securing three Russian top-flight league titles (2013, 2014, 2016), one Russian Cup (2013), and two Russian Super Cup titles (2013, 2014). Musa’s return is not just a strategic move but a heartfelt reunion with a club that represents a winning tradition and, for him, a true family.
