The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has extended heartfelt birthday greetings to Nigerian forward Sone Aluko, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Monday. CAF conveyed their wishes via their verified Twitter handle, acknowledging the milestone in Aluko’s career and life.

“Happy 29th birthday to Nigerian International, Sone Aluko,” CAF expressed in their tweet, recognizing the talented footballer’s contribution to the sport.

Currently plying his trade with Championship club Reading, Aluko’s football journey spans across various renowned clubs, including Aberdeen, Hull City, Blackpool, Rangers, and Fulham. Notably, he notably featured for Hull City in the 2014 FA Cup final against Arsenal, entering the game in the second half during Hull’s narrow 3-2 defeat after extra time.

Aluko’s international career with the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, commenced in May 2009 in a friendly match against the Republic of Ireland, marking his debut with an impressive performance in a 1-1 draw. Throughout his national team tenure, he has amassed seven caps, contributing two goals to the Eagles’ tally.

Moreover, Aluko’s early footballing exploits saw him as part of the Flying Eagles squad managed by Samson Siasia, an essential experience that culminated in the team’s advancement to the second round of the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Egypt.

As Aluko celebrates this significant milestone in his career, CAF’s recognition echoes the football fraternity’s acknowledgment of his achievements and contributions both at the club level and on the international stage.
