Al Ahly to Retain Junior Ajayi Amid European Interest

Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly is reportedly determined to retain Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi despite interest from various top European clubs. Completesportsnigeria.com reports that Ajayi, 22, has been in the spotlight after an impressive campaign with Al Ahly, contributing nine goals and 10 assists in 26 appearances.

Amid the speculation surrounding Ajayi’s potential departure, Al Ahly has indicated that they are not willing to entertain offers for the versatile forward. The decision comes after the club allowed Abdullah Al Saeed, another key performer, to join Kuopion Palloseura in Finland.

The report from Egypt’s online news outlet, m.youm7.com, suggests that Al Ahly values Ajayi’s versatility, as he is the only forward in the team capable of playing in multiple attacking positions. Ajayi, who joined Al Ahly from Tunisian outfit CS Sfaxien in 2016, has made a significant impact with his goal-scoring prowess.

His impressive performances also earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles for the recent friendlies against Poland and Serbia. As Ajayi vies for a spot in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia, Al Ahly’s decision to retain him showcases the club’s commitment to maintaining their competitive edge in the domestic and continental competitions.
