Abdullahi Nears Bursaspor Move, Joining Troost-Ekong and Agu

Nigerian defender Shehu Abdullahi is on the verge of completing a transfer from Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta to Bursaspor in Turkey, according to reports from Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
Turkish online news outlet bursahakimiyet.com.tr has stated that representatives from Bursaspor met with counterparts from Anorthosis on Thursday, reaching an initial agreement for Abdullahi’s transfer before the closing of the current transfer window. This potential move would see Abdullahi join fellow Nigerians William Troost-Ekong and Mikel Agu, who are already integral members of the Bursaspor team.
The final negotiations are set to take place today, with Abdullahi anticipated to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract, contingent on the outcome of the meeting. The 24-year-old, who joined Anorthosis in 2016 from Portuguese club Uniao da Madeira, has made 18 league appearances for his current club this season.
Abdullahi’s imminent move to Bursaspor is poised to strengthen his chances of securing a place in Nigeria’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. His performances for Anorthosis have positioned him as a strong contender for a spot in the national team, and a move to a more competitive league such as the Turkish Super Lig could further enhance his credentials.
Bursaspor, currently sitting in 11th place in the Super Lig, are keen to bolster their defensive options with the acquisition of Abdullahi. The club sees him as a valuable addition to their squad, given his versatility and experience.
As the transfer window draws to a close, all parties involved will be eager to finalize the deal swiftly, allowing Abdullahi to settle into his new surroundings and contribute to Bursaspor’s campaign for the remainder of the season.
