Abdulrahman Taiwo’s brace helps Spartak Trnava book Conference League spot

By Monsurah Olatunji
Abdulrahman Taiwo scored twice as Spartak Trnava defeated FK Železiarne Podbrezova 3-0 to qualify for a place in the Europa Conference League next season.
The Nigerian continued his fine form netting his third goal this month and the former Olympic Eagles striker lined up in the colors of Trnava as he started his 17th league game since arriving on loan from SønderjyskE in Denmark.
The 24-year-old replicated the feat as he scored a brace the last time the two teams meet in March.
Spartak dominated their hosts from the start of the whistle and saw their effort crowned in the 21st minute when Filip Twardzik fired home from twelve yards to give them a 1-0 halftime lead.
Five minutes after the hour mark, the visitors doubled their lead, and as expected it was their top scorer Taiwo who finished off a Kelvin Ofori assist to score his 10th league goal of the campaign.
The Nigeria international then sealed the win with his brace fourteen minutes from time to make it 3-0 and send the away team into Europe for the second successive season.
His match by number saw him finish with a rating of 8.7, had three shots, the most by any player on the pitch, and also had more shots on target (three) than any other player.
