Nigeria defender, Abel Ogwuche says fear is reciprocal ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Ogwuche stated this ahead of the Flying Eagles’ group encounters with the Dominican Republic, Brazil, and Italy in the group stage of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Nigeria’s first two games will hold in Mendoza, in the far west of Argentina, against the Dominican Republic on 21 May and against Italy on 24 May, before they fly to La Plata to play Brazil on 27 May.
“Our group is very tough. Brazil is going to be a very top game for us. They are also afraid to play us. It’s going to be a very great game.” Ogwuche told Brila FM.
“We have to use all our opportunities against them. We now have more quality players.”
Meanwhile, team’s goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso echoed the views of Ogwuche stating that the team hopes to reach the semi-final of the tournament and beyond.
“We are not just going to Argentina to participate at the World Cup,” Aniagboso said.
“We want to reach the semi-final and possibly the final. We have big teams like Brazil and Italy in our group as well as the Dominican Republic. We have a lot to do.”
La Plata, Santiago del Estero, San Juan, and Mendoza are the four host cities for the 24-nation championship in Argentina.
