AC Milan sanction permanent move for Nigeria Under-20 midfielder Victor Eletu to Pescara
AC Milan have approved the permanent departure of Nigeria Under-20 midfielder Victor Eletu to fellow Italian club Pescara, according to OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The move is expected to see the 21-year-old continue his career with the third-division side, with a medical scheduled for later this week.
Eletu’s transfer to Pescara had been close to completion two weeks ago, but AC Milan unexpectedly halted the deal. The midfielder was consequently required to return to the Milan squad for pre-season training.
Recent reports now indicate that the Italian giants have changed their position and will allow Eletu to join Pescara. The planned medical represents the next step before the move can be completed.
The transfer will be a permanent one rather than a temporary loan. AC Milan are, however, set to retain a percentage of any future sale of the player. That arrangement had been made public at the time of the report.
Eletu joined AC Milan at the age of 14 and developed within the club’s youth system. His progress through the academy eventually led to international recognition with Nigeria, and he was included in the squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup three years ago.
His departure would bring an end to his time in AC Milan’s youth ranks as he begins the next stage of his career with Pescara. The move follows the earlier uncertainty surrounding the transfer, after the deal was paused despite having been well advanced.
Eletu’s proposed switch is therefore dependent on the completion of the medical later in the week. Should that process be completed, the midfielder will leave AC Milan on a permanent basis, while the club will preserve an interest in his future through the agreed percentage of a subsequent sale.
Pescara’s move for Eletu comes as the player looks to secure regular senior football in Italy after spending his formative years at AC Milan. He joined the club as a teenager and remained in its development structure through to the point at which he represented Nigeria at Under-20 level.
The latest reports end the immediate uncertainty over his future. Following his return to AC Milan for pre-season training, the midfielder is now expected to be given permission to complete his move to Pescara, subject to the scheduled medical.
