Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman is in the running for the prestigious Serie A Forward of the Year award at the upcoming Gran Gala del Calcio.

The award ceremony celebrates the top performances in Italy’s elite league, and Lookman’s impressive form for Atalanta this season has earned him a nomination.

The Super Eagles winger will face stiff competition from some of Serie A’s top forwards, including Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, as well as AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

Lookman has been in outstanding form for Atalanta, contributing eight goals and five assists in just 14 matches this season.

His consistency follows a stellar 2023-24 campaign, where he scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions, including a memorable hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini is also in contention for the Serie A Coach of the Year award, further highlighting the club’s strong performances this season.

In addition to his Gran Gala del Calcio nomination, Lookman’s fine performances saw him finish 14th in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings, and he remains a contender for the CAF African Player of the Year (APOTY) award.

Atalanta currently sit second in the Serie A standings with 25 points from 12 matches, as Lookman continues to shine in Italy’s top flight.
