Afcon 2023: Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, 38 others make Nigeria provisional squad

Coach Jose Peseiro has submitted list of 40 players that made Nigeria’s provisional list for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, taking place in Ivory Coast in January next year.
The Super Eagles will trade tackle with host nation, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in the group stage.
The Portuguese manager beat the deadline to present his 40-man roster that will quest for their fourth AFCON title,
with the provisional list comprising of six goalkeepers, 13 defenders, eight midfielders and 13 attackers.
Top of the list of Nigeria’s roster is newly crowned Africa’s best player, Victor Osimhen, captain Ahmed Musa, in-form Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon among the regulars in team.
It also include new faces of players who have had few appearances or none with the Super Eagles including Alhassan Yusuf, Stanley Nwabali and Jordan Torunarigha.
Peseiro has until January 3, 2024 to release his final list of not more than 27 players for the tournament.
