Afcon 2023: Boost for Nigeria as West Brom confirms Semi Ajayi return from injury
By Saheed Afolabi
West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan has confirmed the return of Nigeria international, Semi Ajayi to full fitness.
The Super Eagles defender sustained an injury in the game against Plymouth Argyle and has been certified fit to return to first team training.
Corberan revealed that Jeremy Sarmiento and Ajayi will be in action on Saturday if they pass late fitness test on Friday as both players trainer on Thursday without any hitches.
The gaffer was excited with the return of the club duo and he will have more options to choose from in their next game.
“Jeremy Sarmiento and Semi Ajayi are two players who, if they complete the training session on Friday, can be part of the matchday squad on Saturday,” Corberan told West Brom website.
“They both trained on Thursday with the group and they came through that fine.
“It’s always really positive to add players back to your squad when you have been missing plenty of them in recent weeks.
“With Semi, we have one more option at centre-back and he was playing in the first XI at the start of the season.”
The Baggies will play host to Hull City on Saturday, November four at the Hawthorns stadium while occupying the fifth position on the Championship table with 23 points in 14 games and trail league leaders, Leicester City by 16 points.
