Afcon 2023: Christian Obodo heartbroken by Victor Boniface injury blow for Nigeria

Former Nigeria international, Christian Obodo has shown displeasure over the injury sustained by Victor Boniface a week to the kick off of the Africa Cup of Nationss in Ivory Coast.

The former Super Eagles midfielder said he would have been happy if Boniface had been fit for the AFCON because of his exploits in Europe this season as he believes Osimhen has what it takes to lead the Eagles to glory.

“I would have loved to see him play for this AFCON. Because Boniface has just been doing very great,” Obodo was quoted by Sports247.

“Everybody in Europe in the world talking about him. Even some of my friends were just talking about him and Osimhen yesterday.

“Of course, we know Osimhen is one of the greatest strikers in the world right now. I know he’s going to do his part. We have strikers.

“Although where we are, I think we are having those kinds of difficult issues in the position, and I just know that have some good defenders who can do some dirty and quality job.”

Osimhen is expected to lead the Eagles attack in the AFCON starting on Saturday amidst funfair.
