AFCON 2023: Owumi lauds NPFL ambassadors Stanley Nwabali and Olorunleke Ojo

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Davidson Owumi has praised the valuable impact of the national team duo of Stanley Nwabali and Olorunleke Ojo in the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Owumi said he’s elated over the gallantry display of the Super Eagles at the AFCON while he made mention of NPFL products, Nwabali and Ojo influence in the team.
He highlighted how Nwabali played for NPFL club sides before switching to the South Africa league and his exceptional saves helping the team to reach the final of the Africa showpiece.
“I am happy for the gallantry of the Super Eagles who against all odds reached the final of AFCON 2023 with Nwabali who joined South African club Chippa United from Katsina United a little over a year ago as first-choice goalkeeper of Super Eagles and Olorunleke as one of the backup goalkeepers,” Owumi told Complete Sports.
“Nwabali who before joining Chippa United featured for NPFL clubs like Enyimba International, Lobi Stars and Katsina United was exceptional throughout the AFCON 2023 tournament pulling saves that took us to the final.
“He made us proud and showed the world that our league has more of his likes waiting for opportunity to blossom.”
Nwabali has four clean sheets in his debut at the AFCON while Ojo was an unused substitute at the mundial.
