Rwanda coach Torsten Spittler has lauded his team’s performance in their goalless draw with Nigeria during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Kigali.

Despite a disallowed goal from Ademola Lookman, Spittler was pleased with how the Amavubi held the Super Eagles to a draw.

Spittler expressed his satisfaction with both the result and the performance of his players, stating, “I’m very happy not only because of the result but also the way we played. It’s always important to deliver a strong performance, and I believe that if you play well, the results will follow.”

He acknowledged the quality of the Nigerian team, particularly their forwards, saying, “Everybody could see this Nigerian team, especially the forward line, is world-class. We also had a few chances where you could see the difference between our strikers and theirs.”

Despite the challenges, Spittler was thrilled with the outcome, noting, “It was a good match from our side against a very strong team, so I’m very happy with the result but also the way we played.”
