Al Hilal face summer transfer setback as Simone Inzaghi’s right-wing target remains out of reach

Al Hilal appear likely to close the summer transfer window without fulfilling one of Simone Inzaghi’s main requests, after the club’s plans to strengthen the right wing were hindered by a combination of financial and technical obstacles.

The Saudi club had hoped to complete its attacking rebuild by signing a foreign right winger, giving Inzaghi an additional option in the final third. However, that move has not materialised, leaving what was expected to be an important addition to the squad looking increasingly likely to be delayed until at least the winter transfer window.

The setback represents a significant blow to the Italian manager’s plans. Inzaghi wanted to improve the balance of his attacking options by adding a player on the right side, having already seen Al Hilal strengthen the opposite flank with the signing of Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville’s arrival addressed the need for greater depth and quality on the left, but the manager’s wider attacking project depended on further reinforcement. The proposed addition of an overseas player on the right was intended to provide more solutions in the final third and complete the reshaping of the team’s wide areas.

Instead, the negotiations and planning surrounding the position have run into difficulties that Al Hilal have so far been unable to overcome. The obstacles are understood to involve both the financial side of the deal and technical considerations, making it difficult for the club to finalise an agreement before the summer market closes.

As a result, Inzaghi may have to begin the season without one of the attacking profiles he considered important to his plans. The club’s failure to secure the signing would not mean the idea has been abandoned altogether, but it could now become a target for the winter window rather than an immediate addition.

Al Hilal have therefore made progress in strengthening their left flank, but the expected reinforcement on the right remains unresolved. With the summer transfer window nearing its conclusion, the club appears increasingly likely to carry that unfinished part of the project into the next phase of the season.

For Inzaghi, the situation means his plans for a more versatile attacking unit will remain incomplete for now. The Italian had sought an additional foreign winger capable of expanding Al Hilal’s options in advanced areas, but financial and football-related complications have turned that ambition into a postponed objective.
