Al-Nassr loan Wesley Teixeira to Cruzeiro as club reduces wage commitment

Al-Nassr have agreed to send Brazilian forward Wesley Teixeira to Cruzeiro on loan for a second successive season away from the Saudi club.

The Saudi Pro League side confirmed the move in a post on their official account on X, stating that Wesley would join Brazilian club Cruzeiro until the end of next season.

The loan agreement does not include an option for Cruzeiro to sign the 21-year-old permanently when the deal expires, according to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah.

Al-Nassr will also be responsible for only 20% of Wesley’s salary during the loan, with Cruzeiro covering the remaining 80%, the same report said.

The move represents the second consecutive loan spell for Wesley, who spent the second half of last season with Real Sociedad. His time in Spain was limited, however, with the Brazilian making only five appearances and failing to score or provide an assist.

Wesley has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since joining Al-Nassr in the summer of 2024 from Brazilian club Corinthians.

Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, he has played 40 matches for Al-Nassr across all competitions. He has scored five goals and supplied five assists during that period.

His latest transfer means Wesley will continue his development away from the club, while Al-Nassr reduce the proportion of his wages they must pay during the coming campaign. Cruzeiro’s contribution will account for four-fifths of the player’s salary, leaving the Saudi club responsible for the rest.

The agreement also ensures that Wesley’s future remains tied to Al-Nassr beyond the loan period, as Cruzeiro will not have the right to make the transfer permanent at the end of next season.

Wesley joined Al-Nassr after making his name in Brazil with Corinthians, but he has not been able to secure a consistent place in the team since his move. His previous loan at Real Sociedad produced limited opportunities, and he will now return to Brazilian football with Cruzeiro for another temporary spell.

The player’s record for Al-Nassr stands at five goals and five assists from 40 appearances in all competitions. At Real Sociedad, he was involved in five matches but did not register a goal or assist.
