Al-Nassr offer goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi in deal involving Al-Fateh players and cash

Al-Nassr have decided to make Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi available for transfer during the current summer window, with a proposed deal that would see them receive a fee and two players from Al-Fateh.

Al-Aqidi’s future at Al-Nassr has been the subject of growing uncertainty, with reports suggesting the 26-year-old wants to leave in search of more regular first-team football next season.

According to Saudi newspaper Okaz, Al-Nassr have told Al-Aqidi’s representative that the club does not intend to renew his contract. The message was reportedly delivered during a meeting between the two parties at the club’s training camp in Lisbon, Portugal.

Al-Nassr are now prepared to sanction a permanent move for Al-Aqidi to Al-Fateh, where the goalkeeper spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan.

The proposed agreement would see Al-Nassr receive a financial payment from Al-Fateh, together with goalkeeper Abdulhadi Al-Alwan and right-back Saeed Baqatiyah. Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to have reached an advanced stage, with an agreement expected in the coming days before the deal is officially announced.

Al-Aqidi is regarded as a product of the Al-Nassr academy. He was promoted to the senior squad in 2019 but has been unable to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

He subsequently spent time on loan at Al-Tai in 2022 before joining Al-Fateh on a temporary basis in 2025. His latest spell away from Al-Nassr followed a season in which he initially began as the club’s starting goalkeeper.

However, Al-Aqidi lost his place in the side after making a number of mistakes in the middle of the campaign. His errors during matches against Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League were particularly significant in his loss of the starting position.

The goalkeeper also surrendered his place in the Saudi Arabia national team following mistakes in a friendly against Egypt in March. Veteran goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais was selected to guard Saudi Arabia’s goal at the 2026 World Cup instead.

The proposed transfer would therefore bring an end to Al-Aqidi’s long association with Al-Nassr, unless the negotiations with Al-Fateh break down before the clubs complete the agreement. His departure would also allow him to pursue the regular playing time that reportedly influenced his desire to leave the Riyadh-based club.
