Alex Iwobi Celebrates Nigeria’s Independence Day with Arsenal Goal

Super Eagles’ forward, Alex Iwobi, added a special touch to Nigeria’s 57th Independence Day celebration by scoring his first Premier League goal of the season for Arsenal as they secured a 2-0 victory over Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.
The goal, which came on the 57th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from British rule, held a particular significance for Iwobi. Following the match, the young striker took to Twitter to express his joy, saying, “3 Points, Clean Sheet And A Goal ⚽️ Perfect Way To Celebrate Independence Day 🇳🇬❤️#BIG17.”
Iwobi’s goal was a result of a remarkable team effort, with Alexis Sanchez providing a skillful backheeled assist. Speaking about the goal, Iwobi praised his teammate, stating, “It was a great team play. I didn’t think Alexis would find me, but it shows the skill he has. He (Sanchez) is capable of doing anything. To have eyes in the back of his head and backheel to me was amazing.”
Despite his humility, Iwobi’s performance didn’t go unnoticed. Arsenal made their 2-0 win over Brighton appear easy, and Iwobi’s goal played a significant role in sealing the victory. The Nigerian forward is now expected to join the Super Eagles camp in Uyo as they prepare to face Zambia in the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier.
