Algeria 2023: Light Eke talks up Nigeria’s chances to make a mark at U17 Afcon

Light Eke, a young striker of Nigeria’s U17 national team has expressed confidence on the team’s chances to compete and claim honors at the U17 African Cup of Nations, AFCON taking place in Algeria.

The Golden Eaglets as the country’s U17 boys are also called arrived Algeria last weekend and have successfully sailed through the pre tournament processes including fitness and MRI tests.

Speaking ahead of their opening match against Zambia on Sunday in Constantine, the young sensation reveals his      team’s target was to play the best of football, win honors and qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup.

 “Based on our preparation I know that we are very ready for this tournament and in our group, we have opponents that we know and are very good,” Eze told media.

“But like I said based on our preparation we came here knowing that we are going to win the trophy and also qualify for the World Cup.

“So all we are going to do is play according to the coach’s instructions and give our best throughout the tournament.”

The semi-finalists in Algeria 17 AFCON will represent Africa in the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup later in the year.
