Anthony Nwakaeme Sidelined with Ankle Injury; John Ogu Set to Step Up for Hapoel Beer-Sheva

In a setback for Hapoel Beer-Sheva, their top goal-scorer of the season, Anthony Nwakaeme, has been ruled out of the upcoming Israeli Premier League clash against Bnei Sakhnin at the Doha Stadium. Nwakaeme, who has notched up an impressive five goals in 11 appearances in the Israeli Premier League this season and nine goals in 21 games across all competitions, will miss the match due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by coach Bachar Barak.
During a pre-match conference, Barak expressed the unfortunate news, stating, “Nwakaeme is out of the Bnei Sakhnin game because of an ankle injury.” This injury puts a dent in Hapoel Beer-Sheva’s offensive lineup, as they aim to secure a crucial win in their Israeli Premier League campaign.
Compounding the challenge, Hapoel Beer-Sheva will see the return of John Ogu to the starting lineup, as confirmed by Barak. Ogu had been absent in the team’s recent UEFA Europa League clash against Victoria Plzen.
Despite a challenging campaign in the UEFA Europa League, where Hapoel Beer-Sheva finished at the bottom of Group G, the team is currently positioned third in the Israeli Premier League with 27 points from 12 games, and a potential victory on Sunday could propel them to the top of the Ligat Al standings.
The matchday squad against Bnei Sakhnin will feature key players such as Dudu Gorsch, Guy Haimov, Ben Biton, Louis Taha, Miguel Vittor, Oren Biton, Mahran Radi, John Ogu, Dan Einbinder, Wuba Brown, Maor Malikson, Michael Ohana, Niv Zrihan, and Ben Sahar, as Hapoel Beer-Sheva seeks to navigate the challenges posed by Nwakaeme’s absence and secure a pivotal win in the Israeli Premier League.
